The building once owned by the Copernicus family, from which the famous astronomer descended, can be found in the heart of the Old Town, on Copernicus Street. It is a typical example of a merchant’s house, known as a combined residence and warehouse, which served not only as a home but also as a storage facility. The building’s façade has retained its characteristic Gothic decorations and stepped gable, in the shadow of which Nicolaus Copernicus grew up 550 years ago.
