In the Middle Ages, Toruń was surrounded by city walls, parts of which have survived to this day. The fortifications also include several defensive towers, among them the famous Leaning Tower, which attracts visitors with its noticeable tilt from the vertical. The tower is associated with several legends and has been the subject of countless photographs.
