Travel information – Cycling routes and group tours

Discovering Brick Gothic by bike

Cycling is a great way of exploring the Brick Gothic style.
Below you will find several route suggestions, either as a PDF file or with a link to a map and further information:

  • Baltic Coast Route (from Denmark via Germany to Poland)
    The German section of the European Baltic Sea Cycle Route EuroVelo 10 (Baltic Sea Cycle Route) is marked as Ostseeküsten-Radweg (D2) and leads from Flensburg via Lübeck to Wismar, Neukloster, Bad Doberan, Rostock, Ribnitz-Damgarten, Stralsund, Greifswald and Wolgast.
    The Polish section leads via Sławno to Gdańsk. The Baltic Sea Cycle Route is signposted.
  • Mecklenburg Lake District Cycle Route
    The Mecklenburg Lake District Cycle Route (“Mecklenburgischer Seen-Radweg”) leads from Lüneburg via Parchim and Neubrandenburg to Wolgast and is signposted.
    Overall length: 645 km; stages: 14 days
  • Circular route around Greifswald, Wolgast and Anklam
    Greifswald–Wolgast (approx. 30 km):
    From Greifswald city centre, cycle along the river Ryck on the Baltic Coast Cycle Path to Greifswald-Eldena and on to Kemnitz. Leave the long-distance cycle route here and cycle directly via Katzow to Pritzier, turn off here to Schalense and cycle via Hohendorf along the Peene River to Wolgast.
    Wolgast–Anklam (approx. 40 km):
    This route will take you from Wolgast via the Usedom circular route along the Peene River to Hohendorf and on via Wehrland and Lassan to Pinnow and Anklam.
    Anklam–Peenetal–Greifswald (approx. 70 km/ with detour 75 km)
    From Anklam cycle along the Peene valley to Quilow and Lüssow – you may take a detour from Quilow into the Peene valley and take the ferry to Stolpe. The tour from Lüssow continues to Gützkow, Behrenhoff and Dersekow. From Griebenow to Levenhagen, you will need to use of the busy road stretch of the Grimmer Landstraße. Cycle via Groß Petershagen to Horst, and then along the Eastern brick circular route via Groß Petershagen and Wackerow back to Greifswald.
    Alternative route: Anklam–Züssow–Greifswald (approx. 50 km/ with detour 55 km):
    Cycle along the Peene valley to Quilow (detour to Stolpe), from there continue to Züssow and on to Wrangelsburg and Hanshagen. From Kemnitz the route takes you along the Baltic Coast Cycle Path to Greifswald-Eldena and then along the river Ryck to Greifswald city centre.
  • Lüneburg brick tour (day tour 20 km)
    The Lüneburg brick tour will lead you into the romantic brick culture of the Hanseatic City of Lüneburg and its immediate surroundings.
  • The Eastern brick circular route leads to Rostock, Ribnitz-Damgarten, Stralsund and Greifswald.
    The Eastern brick circular route is signposted.
    Overall length: 305 km; stages: 5 days
  • The Western brick circular route leads to Bad Doberan, Neukloster, Schwerin, Wismar and Rostock.
    The Western brick circular route is signposted.
    Overall length: 370 km; stages: 7 days
