1905 - Olsztyn became the Regency (province)
1920 - as a result of the plebiscite Olsztyn remained under German authority
1945 - return of Warmia and Olsztyn to Poland, region’s administrative capital city
1950 - University of Agriculture was established
1967 - the car tyre production plant was the crucial factor in determining the growth of the city
