The Capital of the Thousand Sea`s Region

 
Olsztyn is the capital of Warmia and Mazury with 174.000 citizens. It is situated in the north-eastern part of Poland, among lakes and forests. The natural environment is one of the main tourist attractions. Olsztyn is a city of trees and lawns and the outskirts in urban areas. The Old Town is very interesting for tourists and the center of Olsztyn is famous for several unique and unrepeatable cultural events. The Philharmonic Hall, the Cathedral and the Kromer’s and Copernicus Halls in the castle are places where different concerts are performed. With regard to the population of Olsztyn and the number of high schools and university students Olsztyn can be called university town.

Leisure and culture

 
Olsztyn is an exceptional town from a geophysical point of view. Within the administrative boundaries of the town are located 11 lakes, two rivers and over 1000 hectares of surrounding forest parks. In the town we have 6 walking trails.

Leisure in Olsztyn is also represented by the 10 Sailing and Water-Sports Marinas. The rivers are ideally suited for the canoeing trips organized each year. The riding centers offer both horse-back riding and pony-trap rides.

Summer in Olsztyn means the OAS – that is, the Olsztyn Artistic Summer. In total several hundred events ranging from rock to classical music, from folk music to street bands.

Flagship events of the Artistic Summer include the Blues Night and
the International Folklore Days.

Other cyclical events :
the Castle Poetry Songster Meeting,
the Three Days of Theatre
the concerts of the Olsztyn cabarets.Diverse cuisines, including regional specialties, can be savoured in180 locales.
Just in the Old Town itself – restored in recent years – tourists can enjoy over 40 pubs, bars and restaurants.
